Field Hockey Regional Title Day

Six high school field hockey teams. Three spots available in Saturday's state championship day. It's North Region title day with all three games at the neutral site at Hampden Academy.

3:00pm Class B Regional title day starts with #3 MCI (10-3-1) vs #4 Gardiner.(12-2). The Huskies got the regional with an overtime win over second ranked Belfast. The Tigers beat Nokomis is the semis (Nokomis had knocked off #1 Winslow in the quarterfinal). MCI has been in the last two state title games in Class C, losing one and winning one.

5:00pm Class C This one matches up #1 Winthrop vs #2 Dexter. The Ramblers haven't won a regional title since 1989. The Tigers last regional win came in 2008.

7:00pm Class A Nothing says field hockey in Maine like #1 Skowhegan vs #2 Messalonskee. The Indians have won 16 (that's right -16) straight regional titles. 14 times they have also won the state title. The last time Skowhegan didn't win the regional, Messalonskee did. The teams split two regular season games.
