It's a clean sweep of awards for Bangor High School's Matt Fleming. Today the 6-foot-6 senior was named Maine Gatorade Player of the Year. The first Bangor player to win the award.

The Gatorade honor gets added to his Mr. Maine Basketball Award and his Rams state championship in Class AA.

Fleming averaged 21 PPG, 11.4 RPG and2 BPG while helping Bangor finish the season at 20-2.

He has a 3.59 GPA in the classroom and volunteers with Special Olympics and Unified Basketball.

Fleming will attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in the fall.

NOTE: As part of winning the state Gatorade Award, Fleming gets to award a $1,000 grant to a local or naitonal youth sports orgaization of his choosing. He is also eligible to submit an essay to win one of twelve $10,000 spotlight grants for the organization of choice.
