MDI Uses Frenetic 4th Quarter to Beat Hermon 53-38 [STATS]

The MDI Girls Basketball Team used a frenetic 4th Quarter to beat the Hermon Hawks 53-38 in Hermon on Wednesday night, December 12th.

Hermon led 13-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter, and 18-17 at the end of the 1st Half.  The score was tied 30-30 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. It was at that point that MDI played full-court defense, forcing turnover after turnover and converting those into points. MDI outscored Hermon in the 4th Quarter 23-8.

It was MDI's 1st win in Hermon in years. Neither MDI Coach Brent Barker or myself could remember the last time MDI won at Hermon!

MDI was led by Sophia Brophy with 17 points. Mollie Gray had 13 points. Brophy and Emma Simard each drained a 3-pointer for MDI. The Trojans were 7-13 from the free throw line.

Hermon was led by Izzy Byram with 9 points. Bella Bowden had 8 points. Byram had a 3-pointer for the Hawks. Hermon was 1-1 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 1-0. They will play John Bapst Friday night, December 15th at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor at 8 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device. 

Hermon, now 0-2 will play at Ellsworth, Friday, December 15th at 6:30 p.m.
