Washington Academy Volleyball Beats Ellsworth 3-0

The Ellsworth Eagles Volleyball Team hosted the 1st place Washington Academy Raiders in Katsiaficas Gymnasium falling 3-0. The individual set scores were 25-27, 22-25 and 13-25.

Individual Ellsworth standouts were:

Ava VanDorn-2 aces, 5 kills, 4 assists and 16 digs.
Olivia Harmon-3 aces, 1 kill, 4 assists and 10 digs.
Sophie Beal-1 ace, 2 blocks, 9 digs.
Brooke Pirie-3 kills and 2 blocks.
Allie Neleski-5 kills and 1 dig.

Ellsworth Coach John Dyer said

"We battled with the #1 Class B team in Maine tonight and while we did not come away with a victory, we did push them and almost won the first set. Our players were up for the challenge and brought their "A" game. We learned a lot about our potential and are looking forward to facing Yarmouth on Saturday afternoon."

The Raiders are now 13-0 on the season. They play at Gardiner on Saturday, October 14th at 1:30 p.m.

Ellsworth is 6-6 on the season. They have 2 games remaining in the regular season. They play host to Yarmouth on Saturday, October 14th at 5 p.m. and then finish the regular season on Tuesday at MDI at 6 p.m.
