Maine's Little League state champion, the Lewiston 11/12 All Stars are still alive for a trip to Willliamsport thanks to a thrilling 5-4 walkoff win over Vermont at the New England Regional in Bristol, Connecticut.

The victory gives the Maine team a 1-1 record and a matchup today at 4pm with Connecticut.

In the Tuesday afternoon thriller, Vermont scored three times in the top of the 6th inning to grab a 4-2 lead over Lewiston.

But the Maine champs rallied with two outs in the bottom of the inning. Spencer Chartier drove in the first run and then Dylan Blue ripped a double that scored the tying and winning runs.

NOTE: Lewiston needs to win today vs Connecticut and then would need wins on Friday and Saturday to claim the regional title and earn a Little League World Series bid...Only three Maine teams have played in Williamsport. The 1951 Suburan LL from the Portland area, the 1971 Augusta East LL team and the 2005 Westbrook LL team.
