Low Signs NLI To Play At UMaine
Brewer High School soccer standout Maria Low made it official Thursday evening, signing her National Letter of Intent to attend UMaine next year and play soccer for coach Scott Atherley.
She will be the first Brewer soccer player to play at the Division One level.
Low is Brewer's all-time leading goal scorer with 54 career goals in 64 varsity games. She scored 26 goals this fall in her senior year.
Her coach at Brewer, Dave Hamel, reminded everyone she scored those goals as a midfielder, not from the striker position.
She was named KVAC Player of the Year and was named to the All-State Team for the second year.
NOTE: The Witches won 11 games this fall in Class B North and lost to eventual regional champ Presque Isle in the semi-final round of the playoffs...UMaine soccer finished with a 6-9-1 record this fall.
