The Maine High School Basketball Tournament kicked off Friday with quarterfinal action in Bangor, Augusta and Portland.
Ellsworth Pulls Away For Quarterfinal Win Over Rival MDI
The Ellsworth Eagles upset the arch-rival MDI Trojans in the first quarterfinal match-up of the Maine High School Basketball Tournament at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
The No. 6 Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter to a 71-48 win over the No. 3 Trojans.
Ellsworth's Devin Grindle led all scorers with 21 points.

Caribou Defeats Washington Academy To Advance To B North Semis
The Caribou Vikings overpowered the Washington Academy Raiders in Friday night's Class B North quarterfinal at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
The No. 2 Vikings defeated the No. 10 Raiders 73-49.
Junior Parker Deprey had 25 points for Caribou in the win. Junior guard Alex Bouchard scored 18 points. Sophomore Sawyer Deprey added 13 points. >>FULL STORY>>
Waterville Advances Over John Bapst In B North Quarterfinal [GIRLS]
The undefeated Waterville Purple Panthers turned on the offense in the fourth quarter to pull away form the John Bapst Crusaders Friday night in Bangor.
The No. 3 Purple Panthers started the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run on their way to a 43-35 win over No. 11 John Bapst at the Cross Insurance Center.
It was a valiant effort from the Crusaders, who handled the Panthers pressure defense and held a four-point lead after three quarters. But turnovers plagued both teams and Waterville outscored Bapst 23-10 in the fourth quarter. >>FULL STORY>>
