Ellsworth Upsets MDI In B North Quarterfinal [BOYS]
MDI Trojans vs. Ellsworth Eagles
The Ellsworth Eagles upset the arch-rival MDI Trojans in the first quarterfinal match-up of the Maine High School Basketball Tournament at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
The No. 6 Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter to a 71-48 win over the No. 3 Trojans.
Ellsworth's Devin Grindle led all scorers with 21 points. Freshman Hunter Curtis scored 16 points, and his brother junior Jackson Curtis added 15 points for the Eagles.
Eli Parady had 10 points for the Trojans.
Ellsworth led 32-23 at the half and, after a brief MDI run early in the third quarter, the Eagles ran away with the game, opening up a big lead with time running down in the fourth quarter.
The Eagles improve to 13-6.
The Trojans finish the season at 13-6.
MDI won both regular season match-up with Ellsworth, defeating the Eagles 49-37 in the final regular game of the season.
