Mattanawcook Advances With Win Over Dexter
The Mattanawcook Academy Lynx advanced to the semifinal round on Tuesday afternoon with a win over the Dexter Tigers.
When the buzzer sounded, the No. 2 Lynx came away with a 47-37 win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. They will play the defending state champion No.3-seed George Stevens Academy Eagles in the semifinals on Friday.
No. 7 Dexter took a 1-0 lead at the outset, but that was the last time the Tigers held the lead as Mattanacook (16-3) held a double-digit lead for most of the contest.
Max Woodman led the Lynx with 15 points. Cayden Spencer Thomson scored 11 points -- including two dunks. Alex Brown added 10 points.
Haedyn Gunther had 16 points for the Tigers.
Dexter finishes the season at 14-5.
