Former Orono High School track standout, Hannah Steelman, finished in 8th place in the 3,000M event at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championship in Alabama.

Steelman is a sophomore at Wofford College in South Carolina.

She ran a time of 9:08.79 in the 3,000 meters event, eighth out of the field of the top 16 runners in the nation.

For Steelman, it was her third trip already to the NCCA nationals. As a freshman, she competed in the 5,000M and steeplechase in the D-I Outdoor Championship and then competed in the cross country nationals last fall.

At Orono, Steelman was part of four state championship teams.
