NCAA Playoffs: Husson Heads To Springfield
The Husson University football team is Springfield, Massachusetts bound for the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
It turns out to be the only D-III playoff football game in New England. Plymouth State was sent to Brockport (NY) and Western New England was sent to Delaware Valley.
So coach Gabby Price and his (9-1) Eagles will take of the (10-0) Springfield Pride, winner of the NEWMAC conference. Springfield actually got an at-large bid because this is the first year for football in the NEWMAC and there was no automatic qualifier.
The Pride features the triple option offense run game. They average a whopping 452 yards per game on the ground and just 38 yards per game passing the ball.
Husson and Springfield have two common opponents. Both teams beat Mt Ida, while the Pride beat Western New England and the Eagles lost to WNE.
