What a Sunday NCAA championship round between the University of Southern Maine Huskies and New England College Pilgrims. It took 22 innings to decide a winner.

And the winner of the regional is NEC and now headed to a NCAA Super Regional.

The Huskies had to beat the Pilgrims twice and they won the first one 16-4. Andrew Hillier (Bangor HS) led the way with five hits and six RBI.

That forced a winner-take-all game to decide the regional.

The game lasted 13 innings.

Tied 6-6 in the bottom of the 13th, the Pilgrims pushed across the winning run on a Jameson Carey single.

NEC will meet UMass Boston in a best-of-three Super Regional.

USM ends its season at 38-8.
