NCAA Regional: USM Stays Alive
The University of Southern Maine baseball team is still alive at the NCAA Regional Tournament in Gorham. The Huskies scored two wins on Saturday to stave off elimination. Now they will need two more win on Sunday.
The (36-8) Huskies lost their opening game of the regional to New England College. Now they must beat the Pilgrims twice to win the tourney and advance to a NCAA Super Regional.
Saturday proved to be a thrilling day for the USM team. First, a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Oswego State, scoring two runs in the 9th inning.
Then a 14-5 win over MIT as pitcher Gage Feeney worked 7.2 innings of five hit ball to get the win. Andrew Hillier had two hits and three RBI for the Huskies.
The championship round between the Huskies and NEC starts at noon today.
