N’East Legion Regional: Maine Wins Opener

Maine's American Legion baseball state champs, Coastal Landscape of Portland, gets a 1-0 win in the opening game of the Northeast Regional Tournament in Massachusetts.

Coastal head coach Dan McCarthy used three pitchers, Conner MacDonald, James Sinclair and Griffin Watson, to combine on a five-hit shutout over Cumberland, Rhode Island.

The only run of the game came in the 6th inning when Coastal's Luc Harrison dropped down a bunt basehit with runners at second and third.

The win puts Coastal into a winner's bracket game Thursday at 6:30pm against either New Hampshire or Massachusetts.
