Notre Dame goalie Cal Peterson stopped 40 shots while his Notre Dame teammates were putting the puck in the net leading the Fighting Irish to a 5-1 win over Maine.

The win completes a weekend sweep of the Bears and moves the Irish into first place in Hockey East thanks to a BC tie against Merrimack on Saturday.

Notre Dame took it to the Bears early by getting 2 first period goals and added a third in the second period to take a 3-0 lead in the intermission. Less than 4 minutes into the third the Irish were up 5-0 in in complete control.

Maine got its lone goal from Brendan Robbins, his fourth of the season with 2:49 left to play. The loss drops the Bears record to 7-19-6 overall and 4-12-2 in the conference.
