Coming off a bye week they never really wanted, the UMaine Black Bears got back on the football field Saturday and got trounced by Villanova 31-0.

The loss drops the Bears to 0-3 in the CAA (1-3 overall). The Wildcats  are now 2-1 and 3-2.

Perhaps the key play came in the second quarter. Trailing 7-0, Maine QB Chris Ferguson fumbled the ball and the Wildcats picked up the ball and ran it 99 yards for a touchdown.

The Bears turned the ball over six times.

The Villanova defense held RB Josh Mack to just 22 yards on 18 carries. He entered the game with a CAA-best 167 yards per game average.

The Black Bears return home for the first time since September 9th next Saturday when they host Rhode Island.
