Playing in some chilly October conditions, six Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) golf teams and 21 individuals qualified for the high school state championships.

Hermon's Nate Allain fired the best score of the day, a 79, to lead his Hawks to the top team spot. Allain was medalist and was named Player of the Year.

Old Town and MDI also qualified for the state team championship on Saturday.

MDI's Gabbie James was the top schoolgirl qualifier, shooting a 90. She was named PVC Player of the Year.

In PVC Class C, Orono, Houlton and GSA all qualified for Saturday's team state championship.
