UMaine linebacker Sterling Sheffield has been invited to play in the prestigious National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) Collegiate Bowl on January 19th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

The showcase event is for draft-eligible players. Invited players spent a week working out for scouts and coaches and then the All Star game on the 19th. The game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

Sheffield (6-foot-2, 245) helped lead the Black Bears to the national FCS semi-final round. He led the CAA in tackles for losses with 18. Sheffield racked up 84 total tackles, three fumble recoveries and an interception. Awards include STATS FCS first team All-American and All-CAA selection.

Last year, UMaine OL Jamil Demby played in the NFLPA game and was drafted by the LA Rams.
