In the first Eastern Maine Indoor Track League (EMITL/PVC) meet of the season, Mattanawcook Academy's Caden Spencer-Thompson set two records, including one that had stood for almost 30 years.

Spencer-Thompson, who will take his track & field skills to the University of Louisville next year, broke the Long Jump and Triple Jump PVC records.

His Long Jump distance was 23-feet 7.25-inches, breaking the record held by Ellsworth's Rob Pendergist in 1989 (22-feet, 8.50-inches).

Spencer-Thompson then broke the Triple Jump mark, jumping 47-feet 4.25-inches. That breaks Brewer's Peter Phelan record set in 1996 (47-feet, 0.25-inches).

The first meet was broken into two meets and included two new non-scoring events - the 4x100m throwers relay and the 4x400m relay.

Hermon's Zach Beaton, who earlier in the fall signed a NLI to run at UMaine, won three events (55 Hurdles, 200m, TJ).

On the girls side, Brewer's Morgan Honey won three events (5 Hurdles, LJ,TJ).

Meet #2 of the EMITL is Saturday, December 29th.
