
Sugarloaf Set To Host U.S. Alpine Championship
The top alpine skiers in country come to Sugarloaf this weekend for the U.S. Alpine Championships. It's the sixth time Sugarload has hosted this event.
Competitors will tackle the famous Narrow Gauge trail is slalom, giant slalom, super G and combined events.
The racing is Saturday through Tuesday.
One of the competitors in the men's field is Sam Morse, a Carrabassett Valley Academy grad and at age 20 is one of the top prospects for the U.S. Ski Team.
On the women's side, no Mikaela Shiffrin this time at Sugarloaf. But veteran World Cup skier Resi Stiegler is expected to compete. Stacey Cook and Laurenne Ross are two other competitors who have been on olympic teams.
