The Bowdoin Polar Bears came up one game short in their bid for a NCAA Division III national title, losing to Thomas More of Kentucky 81-67.

It is the second straight year Bowdoin has lost in the national title game.

For the Saints, it is their second title and their last because the school is moving to NAIA play next year.

After a tight first half, Thomas More led 38-34. And then the Saints went on an 11-2 run in the third quarter to lead by seven after three quarters.

The Saints then dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Bowdoin 24-17.

All five Thomas More starters scored in double figures. Kaela Saner led with 20.

Bowdoin senior Abby Kelly finished her brilliant career with 27 points to lead the Polar Bears.

Bowdoin ends the season at 31-2. Thomas More ends 33-0.
