North Atlantic Conference coaches picked Husson University and Northern Vermont-Lyndon as the top two teams in the preseason poll. Saturday to teams played like poll predicted.

The Eagles and Hornets split two games. NV-Lyndon won the nine inning game 6-1. Husson came back to get the seven inning game two, 9-7.

GAME ONE  Northern Vt Lyndon 6  Husson 1:  With the game tied 1-1 in the 5th inning, the Hornets got to Eagles starter Ryan Allender for three runs.

That was more than enough for Hornets pitcher Jake Jourdain. He gave up just three hits over nine innings and got the complete game win.

GAME TWO  Husson 9  Northern Vt Lyndon 7:  The Eagles bounced back in this one with nine runs in the first three innings and then held off the Hornets.

Conor Maguire had a triple and three RBI and Ethan Stoddard had two hits and two RBI for Husson.

The Eagles used four pitchers and Jesse Colford got credit for the win in relief.

Husson is 4-2 in NAC play, 14-10 overall. Northern Vermont is 1-1 and 6-14.

The teams play another doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at the Winkin Complex.
