True, Masters Run In 5,000m Final
Maine Track and Field athletes Ben True and Riley Masters will both try to qualify for the US Olympic National team tonight as the race in the 5,000 meter finals.
Both True and Masters had good enough times in their heats on Monday night to make it to the 16 runner final scheduled for 8:20 ET. True had the third best overall time in the event for the qualifying race at 13:48:11. True’s time was just a half second off the mark set by the top overall performer William Kincaid at 13:47:86.

Masters was the second to last qualifier for the final, though his time is just two seconds off of the pace. He previously ran track for the UMaine Black Bears before transferring to Oklahoma to run for the Sooners.
The top three runners will advance to the 2016 Rio Games which get underway in early August.
