The University of Maine softball team drop the first game of the NCAA Regional in Athens, GA by a score of 6-0 to the #16 Bulldogs.

The Black Bears surrendered two runs in the bottom of the first inning and were never able to mount any continuous offensive threats against some stellar pitching from Georgia.  Erin Bogdanovich earned the start for the Black Bears and surrendered five earned runs over six innings, allowing nine hits and walking four.  Maine was able to tally five hits in the game against the Bulldogs.

Maine will play in an elimination game against the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon.  The winner will play the loser of Georgia/Northwestern later that day.  The Black Bears' next game is tentatively scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
