Matt Morris stopped 29 shots to help the UMaine hockey team shutout UMass 3-0, earn his first career shutout, and the first for the team this season.After a scoreless first period, the Bears got the only goal they would need when Ben Hutton put a rebound into the back of the net on the power play just :35 seconds into the second period.

Steven Swavely added to that lead seven minutes later when he took a pass from Devin Shore and put it past Minutemen goalie Henry Dill. Eric Schurhamer scored the second power play goal of the game and cap the Black Bears scoring in the third period to make a 3-0 lead.

Hutton and Swavely finished with a goal and an assist each while Shore set up two goals.

Maine has won four of their last six games and run their record to 7-14-1. They return to Alfond Arena for games against UMass Lowell on Friday, and Boston College on Sunday.
