UMiami Beats Bears 80-70

The UMaine women's basketball team lost to host UMiami 90-80 in the first round of the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament.

It means the Black Bears play Kennesaw State in the third place game today.

Maine put together a strong second quarter to get the game tied 37-37 at the halfway mark.

Bu the Hurricanes made a 10-0 spurt to start the third quarter and the Bears never fully recovered.

Maine did shoot 42% from the three-point line but got killed in the paint, the Canes outscored them 44-16.

Blanca Millan had 21 to lead Maine. Julie Brosseau had 20.

The Bears fall to 3-2. Miami is 4-1.
