USM Gets NCAA D-III Regional Spot
The University of Southern Maine baseball team got bounced from its Little East Conference Tournament late last week but the NCAA has picked the Huskies as an at-large team in the national field of 58 teams.
Coach Ed Flaherty's Huskies are 27-13 and headed to the New York regional at State University of New York-Cortland. USM will be a #3 seed in the eight team field. The opening round opponent will be #6 Amherst at 4:30pm on Thursday.
The Huskies have played in a NCAA regional in seven of the last 10 seasons and have made it to the D-III College World Series in two of those seasons.
