Husson Eagles freshman guard Emily Wheaton is having her first season of college basketball cut short because of knee issues.

The former Presque Isle HS standout is dealing with a retropatellar knee issue and will not play this season.

Wheaton had played a total of 38 minutes in the Eagles first two games, scoring 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists. She did not play in last night's triple overtime loss to Colby.

Coach Kissy Walker said before the game that after tests and consultations with doctors Wheaton will not play this year and keep the possibility of still having four years of eligibility. Any surgery needed is not known at this time.

Wheaton was a finalist for the Miss Maine High School Basketball Award last season.
