In a rematch of last year's NCAA playoff game, the Husson Eagles came up short against Western New England 21-14 and the loss is likely to sting for a whle.

Leading 14-0 with four minutes left in the 3rd quarter, Husson was ready to go ahead by three touchdowns when tailback John Smith fumbled the ball on the WNE two yard line.

The Golden Bears seemed to feed off the momentum and scored two straight TDs to tie the game at 14-14.

It stayed that way until WNE quarterback Anthony Service hit Josh Henry on a 28-yard TD pass with 52-seconds left in the game to give Western New England its first lead of the day and second win of the year (2-2).

Husson racked up 420 yards of offense to 267 for UNE.

John Smith led the ground game with 128 yarads on 32 carries.

QB Corey Brandon was 20-for-36, 216 yards, one TD and one interception.

Husson falls to 2-1 and the Eagles play their final non-conference game at Endicott next week.
