#12 Stanford Field Hockey Beats Maine 4-1

UMaine field hockey played its first America East Conference game Sunday afternoon,  on a neutral site (UNH) and took on #12 in the nation Stanford. The Black Bears came up on the short end of a 4-1 score.

The AE conference consists of five schools in the northeast and four schools from California.

In the coaches preseason poll, Stanford was picked #1 in its division, Maine was picked #1 in its division.

The Stanford Cardinal came east to play UMass Lowell, UNH and UMaine in a four day window. The Cardinal won on three games.

Samantha Wagg scored Maine's only goal.

Stanford improves to 7-2, Maine falls to 5-3.
