After winning the Maine State Amateur Championship last week, Camden's Cole Anderson is trying to qualify for the U.S. Amateur Championship today at The Ledges GC in York.

51 golfers are competing for two spots in the national tournament.

The field includes Reese McFarlane, Joe Alvarez and Logan Thompson, all from Maine. But other amateurs from Florida, Tennessee, Texas and other states will also try to earn one of the two spots.

Two years ago, Anderson earned a spot in the U.S. Amateur. It was played at Pebble Beach in California.

This year's tournament is at Pineurst in North Carolina from August 12th through the 18th.
