Bangor, Brewer Begin Quest For State Title

The 85th Maine American Legion Baseball State Tournament begins today at the Winkin Sports Complex at Husson University in Bangor. Each of the four Legion zones send their champion and runnerup teams to make up the eight team, double elimination tourney.

This year's field of teams has combined to win 28 state titles over the years, including the last three years (2014 Bangor, 2015 Bangor, 2016 South Portland).

The state champion advances to the New England Regional in Shrewbury, MA starting August 2nd.

The regional winner goes to the American Legion World Series in North Carolina starting August 10th.
