Former Westbrook HS and UMaine Black Bear linebacker Trevor Bates took some time away from Patriots training camp yesterday to throw the ceremonial first pitch on Maine Day at Fenway Park.
Another way to promote the Gridiron Series this fall. The Black Bears play UMass at Fenway on November 11th.
A year ago, Bates was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts but got cut during the season. The Patriots picked him up and he spent the year on the practice squad, earning a Super Bowl ring.
These days Bates is trying to earn a roster spot on the Patriots 53-man roster.
