Bears & Hawks Split AE Doubleheader
31 runs. 43 hits. 10 errors. What a wild and whacky America East Conference twinbill between UMaine and Hartford Saturday afternoon. In the end, the teams split two games and will play a third game Sunday to complete the weekend series.
GAME 1 UMaine 11 Hartford 10: The Black grab the first game win with two big innings. A five run 1st inning and a four run 6th inning.
Caleb Kerbs with a two-run homer in that 1st inning.
Jeffrey Omohundro had three hits for the Black Bears. Four other players had two hits.
Nick Silva gave up seven runs on the hill (five earned) and got his fourth win. Trevor Delaite worked the last two innings to record his sixth save.
GAME 2 Hartford 5 UMaine 4: The Hawks a split of the doubleheader by scoring three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, after UMaine had grabbed the lead in the top of the 9th.
Colin Ridley doubled in the two Black Bears runs.
But the Hawks scored three on a sac fly, a triple and a UMaine error.
Heading into the final game of the weekend Sunday, Maine is 10-9 in AE while Hartford is 10-10.
