Brian Bickford is the new executive director of the Maine State Golf Association. He takes over from Nancy Storey, who retired after 21 years with the MSGA.

Bickford is well known on the Maine golf scene.

He's been director of golf and head golf professional at Val Halla GC in Cumberland since 2006. Bickford has served on the NEPGA board, he's been a high school golf coach and he's been treasurer of the MSGA. Bickford was elected to the Maine Golf Hall of Fame and is a two-time Maine Golf Pro of the Year.

“Golf here in Maine is very diverse and Maine is such a large state. What works in York County may not work in Aroostook County. We need to make sure to address golf at the local level. One of my first goals will be to open up the lines of communication around the state and listen to the issues facing our courses, our golfers, our superintendents, and our golf professionals. We are all in this together.”  - MSGA Press Release

The MSGA promotes the game of golf in Maine, including coordinating weekly tournaments and state championship tournaments. The MSGA just completed its first year with both the men's and women's associations under one umbrella.

The MSGA has been around since 1917.
