It's title day in Zone 1 and it's Brewer vs Bangor. The dust settled on a three game Wednesday in American Legion baseball, starting with Brewer's 3-0 win over Bangor. It forced the Comrades to play an elimination game Thursday night and Bangor defeated Hampden 12-3. Hampden had eliminated Penquis win a 10-7 victory.

So Brewer and Bangor meet today to determine the zone champ and zone runnerup. The title game is 4PM and an if necessary game is at 7PM.

Here's the story on the winner's bracket game....

The Brewer Falcons rode the great pitching of Jeff Weeks and timely hitting from Chase Allen and Matt Morrow to beat the Bangor Comrades 3-0 at the Zone 1 American Legion baseball tournament. The win puts Brewer in a Thursday title game.

Both teams were 1-0 entering this winner's bracket game and it featured a great pitching matchup between Weeks and Bangor's Justin Courtney. Both righthanders pitched well.

But Weeks needed just 106 pitches to shut down Bangor on 6 hits. All of them came with two outs in a inning.

At the plate, the Falcons got a key RBI hit from Chase Allen in the 5th inning and then a 2 RBI hit from Matt Morrow. Those runs proved more than enough for Weeks.

The zone championship game will be Thursday at 4PM. Sportsradio 92.9The Ticket will broadcast live following the Downtown Show. If there is an "if necessary" title game at 7PM, 92.9The Ticket will carry that one as well. The PBP will also be streamed on 929theticket.com.
