Changes Abound For Nokomis Football

For the 2019 Nokomis Warriors football team the old saying 'what a difference a year makes' is a huge understatement.

Last fall it was a season for the ages. After a 4-4 regular season, the Warriors ran the table and won the Class C state title.

Now 13 seniors have graduated and this year's team has no juniors on the roster.

Another change for the Warriors this year - no home field. Construction crews are busy putting in a new football field and track. The plan is to have it ready for next fall.

The Warriors will play their home games at Keyes Field at Lawrence High School in Fairfield.

And, while the team practices and construction crews build the new field, the brand new Nokomis Middle/High School building across the street is getting closer to being complete.

Sometime during the upcoming school year the students will move into the new digs.

Other than that, it's a pretty quiet fall in Newport.
