Cheverus Over Hampden For State Jr Legion Title

Eight Junior American Legion teams from all over New England come to Mansfield Stadium in Bangor this Friday through Sunday for the Junior Legion Regional Tournament.

Thirsty Turf Irrigation(Cheverus) beat out Hart Transportation (Hampden) for the Maine state title Sunday at Colby College in Waterville. Hampden beat Cheverus 7-6 to force an if necessary game. Cheverus won that one 4-3 to claim the title.

Skowhegan will be the host team from Maine.

Two Massachusetts teams, two from Connecticut, along with one team from New Hampshire and Rhode Island make up the tourney field.

It will be a double elimination format with the championship game set for Sunday at 5pm.
