Geroge Stevens Eagles vs. Mattanawcook Lynx

The three-time defending state champion George Stevens Academy Eagles will compete in another regional title game after an overtime win over the Mattanawcook Lynx Friday in Bangor.

The No. 3 Eagles moved on after outscoring the Lynx nine to three in extra time on their way to a 45-39 win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The Eagles had a good look to win the game in regulation, but a Andrew Szwez jumper at the buzzer bounced out. After struggling offensively for much of the game, the sophomore Szwez came up big in overtime, scoring seven of the team's nine points.

It was a tight contest throughout, with the  No. 2 Lynx leading 33-29 after three quarters of play. The game was tied at 36 points at the end of regulation

Junior Caden Mattson scored 11 points to lead the Eagles. Senior Percy Zentz had 10 points and Szwez added nine points.

Max Woodman led the Lynx with nine points. Nathan Ring scored eight points.

The teams had split on the regular season with each team winning at home.

George Stevens will look to defend their Class C North title at 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
