The Dexter Tigers earned a playoff victory on the road Friday night in Orono thanks to a pair of crucial plays from their defense. Leading 21-15 with under two minutes to play and the Red Riots 10 yards from evening the score, the Tigers defense forced and recovered a fumble, then after going three-and-out on offense, Zach White intercepted a Jackson Coutts pass to secure victory with less than 30 seconds remaining on the clock.

Dexter led the contest 7-0 at the half, and extended the lead to 13-0 early in the third quarter, before Orono scored 15 consecutive points, capped off by a 36-yard field goal from Coutts. Following the kick, the Tigers answered on the ensuing drive with the eventual game-winning touchdown.

Tyler Beem led the Dexter offensive attack, carrying the ball 18 times for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

After setting regular season passing records in the LTC, Orono's Coutts finished the night 11-of-28 passing for 125 yards and one interception.

The third-seeded Tigers advance to face top-seeded and unbeaten MCI next Friday (the Huskies defeated Dexter, 36-2, on October 8), while the Red Riots' season comes to an end after an 8-1 regular season.
