Skowhegan Field Hockey Coach’s Win Mark Improves To #545
The powerhouse Skowhegan High School field hockey team rolled to a seventh straight win Wednesday evening, beating Brewer 5-0. Skowhegan has outscored its opponents 40-4.
The teams sits atop the Class A North standings, a spot the team knows well.
Skowhegan has won the regional title 18 straight years and 21 out of the last 22 seasons.
Add in 15 state championships and you've got what is called a dynasty.
The architect of this dynasty is 39th year coach Paul Doughty. The win over the Witches was her 545th career win (545-90-19).
This year's team is loaded with seniors and perhaps plays with a little chip on the shoulder.
You see, Biddeford beat Skowhegan 4-3 in the state title game last fall ending a three-year run of state championships.
The team appears primed to be playing again on state title day.
