Husson University freshman golfer Eric Dugas fired a final round 3-under par and finishes tied for 12th place at the NCAA Division III Championships in North Carolina.

Dugas started the day in 32nd place.

Just a year ago, his older brother and Husson teammate, Gavin. finished tied for 16th place in the national tournament.

Eric birdied four of the first eight holes on Friday and finished with a sparkling 3-under par 69.

His four day total score of 291 put him +3 for the tournament. The winner finished 3-under par, meaning Dugas was just six shots off the top spot.

The Dugas 12th place finish is the best in Husson University history since joining the NCAA in 2003. Joe Alvarez finished 12th at the national NAIA Championship in 2002.

Dugas is from MCI in Pittsfield. He won the Maine high school individual championship in 2016.
