Ellsworth’s Scott MLB Coach Debut [VIDEO]
Ellsworth's Dick Scott made his big league coaching debut when the New York Mets lost 4-3 to the Kansas City Royals in Sunday night baseball.
Back in December, Scott was promoted to Mets bench coach for manager Terry Collins. He had been Mets director of player development job. Former bench coach Bob Geren left New York to take a coaching job with the Dodgers.
The 53-year-old Scott was drafted by the New York Yankees right after high school in 1981. He made his MLB playing debut with the Oakland A's.
After his playing days, Scott managed in the minors. He was named Minor League Manager of the Year in 1994 with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
He spent several years working in the Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays organizations doing player development.
