It’s time for you to help us decide again who should be the winner of this week’s McDonald’s High School Athlete of the Week.  We have five great weekly performances this week for you to choose from.

Winslow running back Ryan Fredette needed every last yard to help the Black Raiders hold on to a narrow victory versus Hermon last week.  Fredette rushed for 228 yards on 27 carries and scored three times for Winslow in a 35-33 victory on the road.  In addition to the performance, he had three rushes of over 20 yards, including a 49 scoring run.  Winslow is 4-1 on the season and currently sits at the top of the Class C North standings.

The MDI girls’ volleyball team picked up two wins over the past week and were led by strong matches from Mackenzie Hanna.  The senior had nine aces, eight kills, and 14 assists in the 3-0 victory over Machias, while also notching 10 aces, nine kills, and 14 assists in a 3-1 win versus Cony.  The Trojans are 6-2 on the year and sit in fourth place in the Class B standings.

Chase Carmichael of Bucksport High School had a great effort for the Golden Bucks in a 47-14 victory over Dexter this past Friday.  Carmichael threw for 350 passing yards, including five touchdowns passes while completing 17 of 24 throws.  On the season the Bucksport QB has over 1,000 yards passing for the 2-3 Bucks who will host Washington Academy on Friday.

Senior Dominic Libbey for the Mattanawcook Academy football team excelled on both sides of the ball in the 45-13 victory for the Lynx on Homecoming Weekend.  Libbey passed for three touchdowns, added another score via a rushing touchdown, and took an interception back for another TD as well in the contest.  With the win, MA is 3-2 on the season and sit in second place in the Class D North standings.

Jaden Talbot of Washington Academy helped pace the Raiders in a 28-6 victory on Friday night over Stearns.  Talbot rushed 33 times for 190 yards, which included three touchdown scores for the Raiders.  With the victory, Washington Academy is 4-1 on the season and have won two straight entering a match-up with Bucksport this Friday.
