Forest Hills Stays Perfect With State Championship Over Schenck

The Forest Hills Tigers capped off a perfect season Saturday with a state championship win over the Schenck Wolverines in Bangor.

The Tigers, of Jackman, were off and running early and opened up a double-digit lead in the second half on their way to a 22-0 record and a 70-65 win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Schenck was able to cut the lead to five points as time expired, but the Forest Hills lead was too much to overcome.

It was a balanced scoring attach from the Tigers with sophomore Parker Desjardins leading the team with 18 points. Senior Brandon Gilboe had 17 points, Dalton Grgoire had 16 points and Jakob Rivas had 15 points.

For Schenck, freshman Kaden Hannan led the team with 22 points, including a Class D state tournament record six three-pointers. Travis Thompson finished with 18 points.

Forest Hills last won the state title in 2015.

Schenck finishes the season at 14-8.

Before the game, the Washburn Beavers boys were awarded the north sportsmanship award in Class D. In Class B north, the Orono Red Riots and the John Bapst Crusaders tied to win the sportsmanship award.
