George Stevens Academy showed why they are the top seed in the Class C tournament, overpowering the Schenck Wolverines in final game of Friday night at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

With the 68-39 win, the Eagles punched their ticket to the Northern Maine finals on Satruday against the Bucksport Golden Bucks (16-4.)

The Eagles proved too much for the smaller Wolverines, rolling to a 33-16 lead at halftime and not looking back.

It was a balanced attack by the Eagles, who were led by Taylor Schildroth with 22 points. Nick Szwez had 13 points. Jarrod Chase had 12 points and Maxwell Mattson finished with 10.

George Stevens, of Blue Hill, improves to 19-1, their only loss coming to the Ellsworth Eagles, who will play in the Class B North finals on Saturday against Orono.

For the Wolverines, junior Justin Thompson finished with 22 points.

Schenck, of East Millinocket, finishes the season at 17-4.
