The George Stevens Academy Eagles booked their trip to Championship Saturday, earning a win against the Piscataquis Pirates Friday night at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

No. 2 George Stevens (18-2) pulled away early in the contest, building upon their lead on their way to a 50-29 win.

The Eagles were led by senior Morgan Dauk with 17 points. Junior Emma Crosby had nine points and junior Mazie Smallidge and sophomore Juliana Allen each finished with eight points.

The Pirates tired to keep Dauk (who scored 31 points in the quarterfinals) in check with a box-and-one defense, but the senior standout was able to provide some offense for the Eagles.

The No. 3 Pirates (15-5) were led by Sara Almirante with 11 points. Erin Speed added nine points.

Saturday will be a busy day for George Stevens fans, with both the boys and girls teams advancing to the regional championship game.
