The Greenville Lakers boy's basketball team defeated Woodland in a one-point thriller Saturday at the Augusta Civic Center, claiming the school's first state title in more than 60 years.

With Greenville leading 47-46 with just seven seconds remaining, senior Nick Foley had a chance to extend the Lakers' lead but missed the front end of a 1-and-1 opportunity. After Woodland got the rebound, junior Gavin Gardner had a chance to win the game with an open look at a three-pointer at the buzzer. Gardner couldn't connect, and Greenville won its first state basketball title since 1954.

Three players reached double figures in scoring for the Lakers. Senior Devin Boone scored a game-high 15 points, while Foley added 14 and senior Evan Bjork chipped in 12.

Junior Drew Hayward led the Dragons with a team-high 13 points, while senior Justin Worden added 10 points.

Greenville, the south region's No. 1 seed, finishes the season at 20-2. Woodland, the top seed out of the north region, dropped to 18-4 to close out the season.
