Thirty five years have passed since the Bangor American Legion baseball team won the state title, that changed on Sunday as the Comrades beat Bessey Motors 2-0.Bangor entered the day 4-0 in the tourney but lost a pitchers duel in the first game of 3-2 forcing the if necessary game. In the second game Sam Huston belted a 2-run double to provide the only scoring of the game. Huston's father Paul was a member of the last Bangor legion championship team in 1979.

Trevor Delaite started the game and pitched 5 innings of 2-hit ball before giving way to Andrew Hillier who went four no-hit innings.

Hillier was named the tournament's MVP after hitting .400 with 5 rbi and 5 runs scored. He also pitched a complete game win and picked up the championship save.

The 23-5 Comrades now head to the Northeast Regional where they play the Connecticut champions Thursday. That 8-team double elimination tourney is in Middletown Connecticut.
