In battle of futility, why shouldn’t Pats be favored vs. MIA?
Yesterday, 27% of people who voted in the Drive Poll chose the New England Patriots as the worst team in football. That was tied for second place in the voting, alongside Jacksonville, while Carolina finished atop the poll to claim the title of the current worst team in the league with 36% of the vote.
Today, we're asking if the Patriots should be favored to win this Sunday because that's how quickly the winds shift in the NFL.
New England returns home this week in the midst of a 3-game skid, but may have just what the doctor ordered in a date with the Miami Dolphins. Obviously, I'm sure Miami is looking at this game the same way, as a must-have after their own 3-game losing skid.
The Dolphins managed just 184 yards of offense on Monday Night Football versus a previously winless Tennessee Titans team. To say the Phish are reeling would be an understatement. Since losing Tua Tagovailoa to a concussion in Week 2's home loss to Buffalo, Miami's offense has looked like one of the worst units in the league...so this Sunday should be a real barnburner in Foxborough.
Since Tua went down, Miami has suffered losses of 31-10 vs. Buffalo, 24-3 @ Seattle and 31-12 last night vs. Tennessee. Tyler Huntley got the nod behind center last night and led an absolute trainwreck of an offense that seemed to have as many penalties as points scored.
I'm sure it won't be as bad with another week to study, but there's an opportunity here for the Patriots to pick up their second win in five weeks (admittedly more than most expected) if they can play their brand of football which we saw in the season-opening win at Cincy and at times in the home-opening loss vs. Seattle.
